Catch Up Post #1- Training

First of all, I would like to apologise to all of my lovely followers, family and friends for the lack of posts since I have arrived in Dubai. On top of having a pretty hectic schedule, I had to sort though some privacy restrictions in regards to publishing my blog and mentioning the company that I work for. For confidentiality reasons, I will not be mentioning the name of the company that I work for or associating this blog with the company. This is purely an outlet to keep in touch with all of the lovely people around the world who would like to keep up with my travels, and I unfortunately will not be able to answer any questions regarding the company and their policies/procedures. Thank you all for being so understanding!!

Right, now that the boring stuff is out of the way, who would like to know that I have been up to in Dubai?! First thing is first: TRAINING! It was honestly oen of the most challenging experiences of my 22 years so far. On top of battling jetlag, a bit of homesickness, a language barrier, time difference and living in a hotel for almost a month, we had to wake up at 4:45 am for about 3 weeks in order to complete 8 hours of intense training! It was crazy, but I am so glad that I had my amazing batch to support and encourage me! Anyone who is under the impression that this job is purely “chicken, or fish?” is quite mistaken 😉 training was split up into 5 disciplines that spanned out over about 8 weeks. They are Safety and Emergency Procedures, Group Medical Training, Security, Image and Uniform and of course, Service training. Each discipline had its positives and negatives, but service was definitely my favourite by far! Our training was very hands on and practical, we got to serve real food and put out real fires. A very eye opening experience and I feel lucky to have been given the opportunity to go through it!

  1. I am so glad you are back to writing. Ive been waiting for another post for ages! Im so excited to say that i leave in 28 days! i just have a couple of questions.
1.What did you wear on your flight and after once you met the Marhaba team was what you wore okay?
    2. When you say you lived in a hotel for nearly a month, did they give you a food allowance? My understanding is hotels don’t really have places to cook food so how did you eat?!
So totally lost my other questions, i’ll ask when I remember lol.
if you can answer them i totally understand. x

  2. Thanks Shiva 🙂 There was a bit of a delay but I’m catching up! In answer to your questions: I wore loose fitting harem pants and a t shirt with a jacket. I was comfortable for my 11 hour flight and also looked acceptable by UAE cultural standards. There was a kitchenette in my hotel and so I was able too cook my own food with my own money. I hope this is helpful! Good luck 🙂
