For those of you who don’t already know, my boyfriend, James, is half Dutch….and one of my closest friends here in Dubai, Lotte, is Dutch too! So this post is dedicated to them and their lovely families! This morning at 1:30 am I arrived back from my first layover in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. I have been once before with James and his family as a tourist, but not as crew! I was thrilled to receive not one but two Amsterdam flights on my roster this month! They are back to back, which some crew grumble about but Holland is one of my favourite places in the world so far, so I am happy!
The flights there and back were lovely. The passengers were so polite and kind that I had to stop myself from individually hugging all of them every time they said dunk u welΒ in their nice accents! Both flights were quite busy but we as a crew still managed to have fun! Some of the girls I flew with are accompanying me back the day after tomorrow, it will be nice to see some familiar faces in that briefing room! The crew hotel in Amsterdam is one of my favourite so far, such a beautiful decor and right in the airport, no need for buses at all π After a quick shower, I put on my new favourite Zara coat and off we went to explore Amsterdam! The trains weren’t running properly so we had to catch a bus from Schipol Airport to the nearest train station. From there it was only one stop to Amsterdam Centraal and a short walk down a busy road and we reached the main square! It was weird to be in the same place that James and I had been to only a year or so before, but at the same time it felt kind of nice, too! We spent the evening getting blissfully lost, eating lots (just me again, I’ll probably have cholesterol soon!) taking photos and grinning like an idiot every time a friendly Dutch person said hello. Oh, not to mention a nice Heineken or two as well! I am not a massive beer drinker, but when in Amsterdam….do as the Dutch do!
Can’t wait to explore new parts of the city very soon! Now for a big rest and to elevate my swollen legs π xx
I am half dutch and am visiting my family in Holland with my best friend in May! This post just added to my excitement of showing my friend around the city! Glad you had a good time π
